Multi-functional community facility

Cardiff University's award-winning Community Gateway project partners with Grangetown residents who are making their community an even better place to live and work.

Working closely with community partners such as Grangetown Community Action and Grange Pavilion Project, Community Gateway is building a long-term partnership with Grangetown residents.

This is leading to world-class research, teaching and volunteering opportunities which bring community-led ideas to life.

A major piece of work has been the renovation and opening of a vacant bowls pavilion to trial community-led activities, including the pilot launch of a locally-run community-focused Hideout Café hosting a monthly Culture Café aimed at bringing the communities of Grangetown closer.

In 2019, the Grange Pavilion will be totally transformed following a successful £1m bid to the Big Lottery Fund.

The result will be a multi-functional community facility providing opportunities for education, health promotion and enterprise development, with a café, office, public amenities and three large rooms available for hire by businesses and organisations, and for community members to use for free to deliver projects aimed at benefitting the local community.
